Red Angus Cows with a Red Devon Bull
The Red Angus and Red Devon breeds were selected for many reasons. Both breeds handle our Texas weather well. Animal welfare and quality of life is important to us. Both breeds have excellent marbling qualities that make the final product tender and juicy. Both breeds are excellent mothers with good milk production that raise healthy calves. Both breeds are a calmer docile breed. Safer for us and the animal, allowing us to use a low stress handling system when we rotate and round up for market. If the cattle are less stressed at harvest it helps preserve the meats quality. Both breeds do very well and are bred for a life of foraging on grasses and do well with rotational grazing. We want the best quality product for our valued customers as well as our home.
Pastured Poultry Meat Birds
Cornish Cross Broiler
Seasonally we raise Cornish Cross Broilers known for a good sized breast. These birds were bred to finish out quickly at six to eight weeks. Our goal is between 4-5 pounds whole. Our chicks start in the brooder for the first couple of weeks until they are ready to be on pasture. Once on pasture they are moved daily to new grasses in their mobile coop. They always have access to grasses and forage once in their mobile coop and also receive a non GMO and non soy natural feed when available. Once you try pastured chicken meat, it is hard to go back to store bought. The chicken leave behind good fertilizer on our pasture grasses, helping us in our regenerative farming practices.
